Mestre Welcomes “Artemis”: A Center Offering Comprehensive Family Support

From psychotherapy to parenting support, from adolescence to issues related to separation. An all-female multidisciplinary team works together to meet the needs of the local community.

An all-female team, made up of a multidisciplinary group capable of combining clinical, therapeutic, and educational expertise. This is precisely the strength of the new “Artemis” Family Center, located in Mestre on Piazzale Candiani: cooperation and continuous internal exchange, working not as isolated individuals but as a cohesive group that views the family, in fact, in its entirety. A 360-degree approach. A valuable resource for the community, inaugurated just a few weeks ago and focused on four specific areas: clinical, legal, and services dedicated to adolescents and families. The underlying goal is to address every type of request—from individual psychotherapy to parenting support and educational programs— with a synergistic and tailored approach based on individual needs. In the clinical area, “Artemis” offers psychology and psychotherapy programs with professionals from various schools of thought, as well as specialized trauma interventions focused on the individual’s well-being and quality of life. The legal division, on the other hand, aims to ensure a rigorous technical and specialized assessment, prioritizing the protection of the most vulnerable individuals and safeguarding the well-being of minors involved in situations related to their parents’ separation. While the family division offers, among other things, parenting support groups or mutual-aid groups on various topics, discussion groups for mothers, fathers, or children going through a parental separation, support during childbirth and the postpartum period, as well as opportunities for parents and children to bond, the section dedicated to adolescence, on the other hand, addresses the main issues facing young people. These range from emotional and relational distress (managing anxiety and difficulties in accepting bodily changes) to isolation (including school phobia and conflicts with the adult world and the family).

“The Family Center? A first for Mestre”

“It’s important,” explains Elena Pistollato, the Center’s director and a family and relationship psychotherapist, “to be able to provide the community with a facility where multiple professionals work as a team, communicating with one another and developing a variety of approaches. An initiative designed to help those in need. This began as a psychotherapy practice, but we’re transforming it into a Family Center— a completely new kind of facility in Mestre.” There are already numerous events on the calendar open to the public, such as “Social Media and Photography: Getting to Know Yourself and Communicating Who You Are, ” a five-session course for girls and boys ages 14 to 18 (information and registration: 352.0500430). “An opportunity for young people to work on their self-image and get to know themselves, analyzing how they tend to present themselves to others through social media, which is often used as a ‘mask.’” Then there’s “Keep Calm. Psychological Support Program for Those Experiencing Separation, ” designed for adults (353.4853014) and, in the same vein, support groups in this case aimed at children ages 6–10 (345.0310856). “Starting in January, we’d like to open new spaces,” says Pistollato, citing her colleagues Emanuela Pamio, Federica Favaron, and Grazia Stefanuto, “to include a mother-and-child area among our offerings.” The Family Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon (for information and appointments: 349.4402007 or centrofamiglia.artemis@gmail.com).
